April 20, 1942 - January 21, 2001 My cooking has been inspired by my mother. My mother cooked everyday, she always knew what she was going to cook before hand. Everything my mother cooked was homemade, never from the box unless you count a box of Duncan Hines Brownie mix. Well lets just say, her food was so good our friends in the neighborhood hung out at our house alot. Even my mother's sister's would stroll by just to see what their big sister was cooking. I remember family that lived near by, would come by on foot just to get a taste of my mother's food. I must say, my mother was a great cook, and I learned by watching her. My mother never measured, nor do I. Many have asked me to start a food blog, well here it is my first. I'm new at this, and plan to inhance my blog as time all...

Where is the recipe??
ReplyDeleteWatever amount of cornmeal you use add 1/2 that amount of flour that should always be the ratio of flour to cornmeal
DeleteHello Mary, sorry I'm just now seeing your question. I never wrote the recipe down, but my Aunt told me she uses self rising flour, a white corn meal and boiling hot water. Then she mixes well and makes the oval shaped patties. She never told me of any measurements and has since passed away. :(
ReplyDeleteDo you make it? If so, what are the measurements you use?
DeleteI don't make my Auntie's but I do make it using a simple cornbread recipe without sugar, egg and milk. I use hot water. I don't measure.
